In 1873 CE (Meiji 6), it was designated as a village shrine, and in 1886 CE (Meiji 19), it was renamed Nishi-Futaguchi Kasuga Shrine. In 1907 CE (Meiji 40), it merged with two unranked shrines, and in 1939 CE (Shōwa 14), it was designated as a shrine for the offering of food and silk offerings to the gods.
