Seikyoji Temple
横浜市南区三春台137 西教寺
A temple of the Jodo Shinshu Otani-ha school, it bears the mountain name Hogo-zan.
History
It was founded in 1641 CE (Kaneie 18) by Ryoen in Saitama City. In 1903 CE (Meiji 36), Master Ito Daijin relocated the name and lineage of Seikyoji to this location and revitalized the temple. The buildings collapsed during the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 CE (Taisho 12), so the current main hall and other structures, built of reinforced concrete, were erected in the Shōwa era.
