History
The founding date is unknown, but it is said that the monk Genryo revived the temple in 1681 CE (Tenna 1). The storage hall was severely damaged in the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake, and the main hall and principal image were destroyed by a lightning-induced fire in 1962. The temple was rebuilt in 1966. It is currently a temple of the Tozan school of Shingon Buddhism and serves as the 77th station of the Kanto 88 Temple Pilgrimage.
