宮沢賢治の菩提寺として知られ、境内は綺麗に手入れされています。見事な枝垂れ桜の名所として有名で、本堂へ向かう階段や墓所の周辺にはフクロウの像が置かれています。御朱印や御守りの授与があり、駐車場は本堂の裏側や向かいの坂の上のほか、徒歩でのアクセスも可能です。
