浄土寺の隣に位置し、尾道七佛巡りの一つとして知られています。浄土寺と合わせて参拝する人が多く、人形浄瑠璃の創始者である文楽の墓も祀られています。本堂裏手の山腹には鎖岩があり、鎖を掴んで登るような構造になっています。
