A Rinzai Zen sect temple of the Nanzoin school located in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture. It is known by the mountain name Butodōzan (Mountain of the Buddha's Way). It is also the 12th station of the Chichibu 34 Kannon Pilgrimage.
History
The temple's origin is said to stem from a merchant of Kai Province who was rescued by the miraculous light of a Kannon statue during a bandit attack. The former bandit leader repented and became a monk, leading to the founding of the Nosaka Kannon Hall. It was later revived in 1651 by Keishitsu, and in 1741, Bukai merged it with the Nosaka Kannon Hall and relocated it to its current site. The temple burned down completely in a fire in 1906 but was rebuilt in 1909.
