A temple of the Tozan school of Shingon Buddhism located in Nerima Ward, Tokyo. It has a history of being rebuilt using timber from the residence of Tokugawa Tsunayoshi.
History
The temple was founded by Goei during the Bunroku period (1593โ1596 CE). In 1649 CE (Keian 2), it received a Goshuin (a calligraphic seal stamp) from Tokugawa Iemitsu, and since then, the Goshuin from successive Shoguns have been preserved. The temple burned down in a fire in 1861 CE but was restored to its former scale in 1957 CE.
