朱塗りの立派な門で、その色から「赤門」とも呼ばれています。四脚門の格式高い造りで、現在は柵で囲まれているため、門の向こう側にある渡月橋へ向かうには周囲を回る必要があります。修復により美しい外観を保っており、歴史的な重厚感を感じられるスポットです。
