History
Founded in 1577 CE (Tensho 5) by Jitsuen-in Nisshin, with Matsushima Sukeno-suke, a retainer of Horio Yoshiharu, lord of Tuda Castle, serving as the founding patron. In 1611 CE (Keicho 16), following the construction of Matsue Castle, the temple relocated from the Tuda castle town to Teramachi in the Matsue castle town. The main hall was destroyed by fire spreading from a neighboring building in 1857 CE (Ansei 4).
