History
Founded in 1648 by the initiative of Daijo Nyoin Myoso Nicho Daiso, the mother of Matsudaira Takamasa. The temple was established by relocating Honjoji from Hamatake Village, Ebara District to its current location and renaming it Yogenji. It was completely destroyed by fire in 1804 and remained a nunnery until 1945.
