Choryuji

The exact date of its founding is unknown, but temple tradition holds that an Amida Hall was built in the mid-Heian period. It is inferred to be an ancient temple due to anecdotes about it serving as a memorial for the fallen retainers of the Taira clan during the Genpei War, as well as the presence of a memorial tower inscribed with the name 'Kochō'. During the Keian era, it possessed a vast temple grounds and numerous halls, but after declining due to fires, reconstruction efforts have been underway since the late Showa era.
