Choryuji Temple
綾瀬市深谷中4丁目3−1
A Soto sect temple located in Ayase City, Kanagawa Prefecture, where a cluster of tombstones belonging to the Ohashi family (designated as a cultural property by Ayase City) is preserved.
History
Established in the mid-Muromachi period, this Soto sect temple was founded by Hirakawa Echigo. The temple's name is derived from the posthumous name of the founder, "Shinya-ji-don Choryu Doan Jushi" (Venerable Doan of Choryu at Shinya-ji Temple). During the Edo period, it came under the jurisdiction of the hatamoto (direct retainers of the shogun) Ohashi Chinsan, and the tombstones of the Ohashi family remain to this day.
