In 1617 CE (Genna 3), Kenbu Masanaga, the founding lord of the Hayashida Domain, constructed a small island in the shape of the Subama region within Nishiike (Kamoike) as a countermeasure against drought. The island was built to enshrine the deity Ichikishimahime, marking the shrine's origin. It has been revered as Subama Shrine by the surrounding communities for generations. The current shrine buildings were rebuilt in 1984 CE (Shōwa 59).
