The founding date is unknown, but it was originally located in Takasu-machi, Kaizu-gun, Gifu Prefecture. It was forced to relocate due to improvement works on the Ibi River and moved to its current location in 1901 (Meiji 34). It is said to have been revived by the resident priest, Sasaki Kakune.
