In 1909 (Meiji 42), a branch spirit from Yasukuni Shrine was enshrined, and the spirits of those who died in the Sino-Japanese and Russo-Japanese Wars were jointly enshrined, establishing Hida Shokon Shrine. It was renamed Hida Gokoku Shrine in 1939 (Shōwa 14) and then renamed Hida Shrine in 1946 (Shōwa 21).
