Through the donation of Arima Yoritoshi, the third lord of Kurume Domain, the main hall (honden) was completed in 1660, and the offering hall (heiden) and worship hall (haiden) were completed in 1661. During the Meiji era, it was ranked as a Kokuzai Chusha (Medium National Shrine) and was promoted to a Kokuzai Taisha (Large National Shrine) in 1915.
