In 1186 CE (Bunji 2), Fujiwara no Hidehira enshrined Ukanomitama (Ukanomitama) and Omononushi (Omononushi) as subsidiary deities in the side hall, having divided their spirits from Haguroyama. The shrine was renamed to its current name in the early Meiji period. The current shrine buildings were constructed in 1750 CE (Kanen 3).
