During the Kamakura period, a fortress was built here, but it declined due to warfare. Since then, it has maintained its history under the management of the Shingon sect and the Association of Shinto Shrines. Today, it is known as a deity of fire protection and granting wishes, boasting one of the highest numbers of visitors in Fukuoka Prefecture.
