Ryoanji (Ryoan-ji Temple)
京都市右京区龍安寺御陵ノ下町13
A temple established in the 15th century. Its beautiful grounds feature a famous stone garden that embodies Zen philosophy, as well as a restaurant serving yudofu (hot tofu soup).
What visitors say
This is a serene temple where you can take your time appreciating the landscape in a tranquil atmosphere, including the karesansui (dry landscape) stone garden and the tsukubai (water basin). In the morning during winter, sunlight streams into the stone garden, creating a beautiful scene when combined with the green of the moss and trees. When visiting, please note that shared slippers are provided, so it is recommended to check where to leave your shoes and luggage in advance for a smoother experience.
