Founded in 1804 CE (Bunka 1) to offer gratitude for the opening of farmland and fishing grounds and to pray for prosperity, the shrine received a branch spirit from Fushimi Inari Taisha (Fushimi Inari Grand Shrine) in Kyoto and was established as Inari Shrine. Due to the eruption of Mount Usuzan in 1822 CE (Bunsei 5), the shrine was relocated. It moved to its current location following the opening of the Nagawara Line in 1922 CE (Taishō 11). The current shrine buildings were constructed in 1971 CE (Shōwa 46).
