History
This prominent local shrine was established around 939 CE (Tengyo 2), approximately 1,100 years ago. During the Edo period, it was revered by the Maeda lords of the Kaga Domain and the lords of the Daishoji Domain. Although its grounds once spanned a vast area across Musashi-machi and Takaoka-machi, the shrine was relocated to its current site during the Keicho era. Because swordsmiths performed rituals here to receive blessings related to fire and water, it is colloquially known as 'Kaji-Hachiman-san' (Blacksmith Hachiman).
