Amaterasu-Omikami Takaza Shrine Haiden
八尾市教興寺549
A shrine located on the mid-slope of Takayasu-yama in Yawata City, Osaka Prefecture, adjacent to Iwanado Shrine.
Enshrined deities
Amaterasu Omikami, Takamimusubi-no-Kami
History
The founding date is unknown, but there is a theory that it was relocated from Ujiyamada in Ise Province in the 23rd year of Emperor Yuryaku's reign. Because the main hall (honden) is situated on a rock ledge in a valley, it is also thought to originate from primitive beliefs of an even earlier era. It was previously known as 'Shikinaidai Takaza Shrine' (a major shrine listed in the Engishiki codex).
