From the medieval to early modern periods, various theories existed regarding the enshrined deities, including Kinuyahime-no-Mikoto and Sukunabiko-no-Mikoto. Since the Meiji period, the established belief has been that the shrine enshrines three deities: Ohikumamimi-no-Mikoto, Sukunabiko-no-Mikoto, and Kinuyahime-no-Mikoto.
