History

It is said to have been founded during the Chōkyū era (1180–1185). Since ancient times, torii gates (shrine gates) were repeatedly constructed, but all eventually collapsed. In 1881 CE (Meiji 14), it was renamed to include Hachiman-sha, and in 1904 CE (Meiji 39), it was designated as a shrine for the provision of offerings (Shinsen Heihaku Ryō). The worship hall (haiden) was reconstructed in 1954 CE (Shōwa 29).
