Ariso Shrine was originally enshrined at Amahare Coast but was relocated to Takaoka Shikino due to coastal erosion. During the Bunmei era, Yokota Masuhachiman Shrine was invited to the site, and in 1610 CE (Keichō 15), Ariso Shrine was merged into it. In 1612 CE (Keichō 17), the shrine was moved to its current location due to flooding of the Senho River. In 1947 CE (Shōwa 22), it was renamed Ariso Masuhachiman Grand Shrine.
