History
Founded during the Tenshō period (1573–1592 CE), Yakurin-ji Temple served as its bettōji (affiliated Buddhist temple). Until the separation of Shinto and Buddhism in the early Meiji period, a statue of Kannon (Avalokiteshvara) was enshrined in the inner sanctum. In 1907, two nearby shrines were merged into this one. The shrine buildings, which collapsed during the Great Kanto Earthquake, were rebuilt in 1938 and newly constructed in 2003 as part of the 'Great Reconstruction of the Heisei Era.'
