Ashide Arakami (Kai Shrine)

Legend holds that Kai Munetachi, who suffered fatal injuries to his limbs after failing in the Higo Kokujin Ikki (rebellion of the Higo local lords) during the Sengoku period, escaped to this area where he was nursed back to health by local villagers. Munetachi died leaving behind the words, "I will save those who suffer in their hands and feet." A small shrine was built to mourn his spirit, marking the origin of the shrine. Later, through the initiative of believers, a small shrine was constructed, which eventually developed into the current Kai Shrine.
