Ashikaga Orihime Shrine Main Hall
足利市西宮町2459
Known as the guardian deity of the Ashikaga textile industry, this shrine features a beautiful vermilion-painted main hall modeled after the Phoenix Hall of Byodo-in Temple.
History
Founded in 1705 by local residents, it was later enshrined as a subsidiary shrine within the precincts of Yakumo Shrine in Tsu 4-chome. In 1879, the deity was transferred to Orihime Mountain, but the shrine was destroyed by fire the following year. The current main hall was completed in 1937. It was later revived by Yoshio Hayashi during the Heisei era.
