During the Edo period, it served as the guardian of the front ghost gate of Tsuchiura Castle, and the shrine buildings were renovated by Tsuchiya Kazunao. The shrine buildings burned down in the 12th year of Genroku (1699 CE), and the current buildings were rebuilt in the 8th year of Bunka (1811 CE).
