Around the 5th year of Tenmei (1785 CE), horse handler Kuraoka Banzou established the shrine using funds from a horse gifted by the incarnation of an Inari shrine. The former name was Garameiki Inari, and it was renamed Banzou Inari Shrine in the 2nd year of Meiji (1869 CE). In the 42nd year of Meiji (1909 CE), the enshrined deities of 16 neighboring shrines were merged, and it was classified as a village shrine.
