In 1897 (Meiji 30), Kono Shiro established a small shrine after receiving a divided spirit of Kato Mikoto from Kumanozasu Taisha (Kumanozasu Grand Shrine), which was formerly a Kanpei Taisha (Grand Shrine under direct imperial patronage). In 1907 (Meiji 40), the current shrine buildings were constructed, and it was named Biei Shrine after the village name. In 1995 (Heisei 7), the shrine was relocated and rebuilt at its current address in Higashi-cho, Block 4. In 1997 (Heisei 9), various facilities were newly established as part of the centennial commemoration project.
