Chōetsu-zan Seikō-ji
葛飾区四つ木1丁目25−8
A Tendai sect temple located in Yotsugi, Katsushika Ward, Tokyo, also known as Shibusawa Seikō-ji. Situated on the site of Katsui Kiyoshige's residence, it has inherited a historically significant religious tradition.
History
Katsui Kiyoshige named it 'Ame-furi-zan Seikō-ji' (Rain-Falling Mountain Seikō-ji) in reference to the continuous rain during the stay of Shinran. Around the Eiroku period, the temple was left without a resident priest due to war and floods. It was revived as a Tendai temple during the Kan'ei period. Due to successive floods, the mountain name was changed from Ame-furi-zan to Chōetsu-zan.
