In the ninth year of Bunmei (1477 CE), the site became the location of an ancient battlefield involving Michikane and the castle lord of Toyoshima. In the ninth year of Genroku (1696 CE), it was renamed Hikawa Shrine, and a reconstruction was carried out in the third year of Koka (1846 CE).
