History
Chofukuji is also known as Tenryūzan and is a branch temple of Kokutaiji in the Soto Sect. It was destroyed by fire once in 1764 CE (Meiwa 1) but was rebuilt in 1787 CE (Tenmei 7) by the abbot of Kokutaiji, Chigai. It subsequently became a Soto Sect temple. The current main hall was rebuilt in 1999 CE (Heisei 11).
