Daiakji (Daiakji Temple)

A temple established in 814 CE. Its predecessor was a retirement villa for the Emperor. Visitors can enjoy traditional landscapes, including ponds and rock gardens.

The temple complex (garan), featuring the Shinden (main hall), the Goeido (hall enshrining the imperial portrait), and a corridor with a distinctive roof style, offers a dignified and elegant landscape. The area surrounding the vast Ozawa Pond is ideal for a leisurely stroll, and the beauty of the gardens is particularly striking during the autumn foliage and cherry blossom seasons. Visitors can also participate in sutra copying experiences and receive seasonal Goshuin (shrine or temple calligraphic seal stamps).
