One of the oldest Buddhist temples in Japan. It is known for its solemn atmosphere and ancient Japanese architectural structures within the temple grounds.

Located on the approach path to Zenkoji, this site features a vast temple complex with a grand mountain gate and main hall. Visitors can worship inside the main hall, participate in the Kaidan Meguri (a ritual walk through the dark), and receive multiple Goshuin (temple seal stamps). The surrounding area includes lodging temples (shukubo) and a post office, allowing for a calm and peaceful visit.
