Founded during the Oei period (1394–1428 CE) by the monk Shinshu Hoji, with an image of Amida Nyorai (Amitabha Buddha) as the principal deity. During the Enpō period (1673–1681 CE), the monk Seihitsu Shonin revived it as Enyuzan Jomanji. It later merged with Heimasanzan Hachimanji, the temple of the Hachiman Shrine, and was renamed Rendaizan Hajoji.
