A Buddhist temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect, enshrining Kobo Daishi (Kukai) as its principal image. It is also the 7th temple on the Sanriku Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage.
History
It is said that during the Tenpo era, a person named Yamada had a dream in which he perceived Kobo Daishi, leading him to invite the image and build a hall. A new hall was constructed in 1902 CE (Meiji 35), but it was destroyed by fire during the 1945 CE (Shōwa 20) air raid on Yokkaichi. The main hall was rebuilt in 1954 CE (Shōwa 29).
