In 1915 CE (Taisho 4), new shrine buildings were constructed, and Amaterasu-ōmikami was designated as the principal enshrined deity. It was elevated to the status of a Koyasha (local shrine) in 1926 CE (Taisho 15). In 1984 CE (Showa 59), the current shrine buildings were constructed as part of the Centennial Commemoration Project.
