A Buddhist temple of the Jodo Shinshu Honganji-ha sect, with the mountain name Unryuzan. It is also known as the former residence of Noka Seigin, the first abbot of Nishi Honganji.
History
Founded in 1495, it began when the founder, Shaku Doshou, received the main object of worship from Jitsunyo, the 9th head priest of Honganji, and established a thatched hut in Kokura. During the time of the 14th head priest, it became a branch office (Goboo) of Honganji. In 1872, its subsidiary temples and residences were separated to become independent. In 1993, due to redevelopment around Kokura Station, the temple relocated from Yonemachi to its current location in Otemachi.
