History
Founded in 825 CE (Tencho 2), the shrine's name is said to derive from a legend in which Hatahime Mikoto rested his horse while hunting in the area, leading to the place name Anzura (Resting Saddle) and the shrine name Hatahime Anzura Sumiyoshi Shrine. In 1911 CE (Meiji 44), Tenman Shrine and Kokufu Shrine were merged into this shrine.
