Founded in 1645 by Hatamoto Takagi Masanori. Masanori established the Tokugawa Ieyasu Shrine and this temple next to Yagami Shrine in order to enshrine a portrait of Tokugawa Ieyasu. In 1758, Genzo, the third Daisai, was invited to be enshrined, and from that time onward, the temple came to be known as 'Ogawa Yakuyoke Daisai.'
