Funabashi Jizō-in
〒273-0021 千葉県船橋市海神1丁目21−22
Known as Shōgunzan Jizō-in, this temple is counted as the 82nd site of the Kanto Hyakuhachi Jizōson (One Hundred and Eight Jizō Deities of the Kanto Region).
History
It is said that the temple complex was constructed by the monk Chōren Hōin Shōyo and named Shōgunzan Jizō-in. While the origins of Shōgunzan Jizō Bosatsu (Bodhisattva) date back to the Heian period, the worship of the deity spread among the common people from the Kamakura period onward, where it was revered for providing protection in times of danger on the battlefield.
