History
Konpira Shrine was established in 1859 (Ansei 6) when Iwatsukiya Sakuji invited the deity Konpira Daigongen from the province of Sanuki to mark the opening of Yokohama Port. Subsequently, the shrine was relocated multiple times to Takashimacho and Makinacho due to the relocation of the pleasure quarters. Daiwashi Shrine was enshrined in 1872 (Meiji 5) as "Otoryo-sama" and is currently enshrined in the side hall of Konpira Shrine.
