History

The shrine was established in 1907 through the merger and renaming of Hachiman Shrine and Akita Shrine. Hachiman Shrine originated from an invitation of the deity from Ishizuki Hachimangu by the Satake clan. Akita Shrine was founded to enshrine Yoshiaki Satake, the first daimyo of the Kubota Domain. The shrine buildings were destroyed by arson in 2005 but were rebuilt in 2008.
