History
The shrine was founded in 1092 CE (Kanchi 6) when Shura Saburo Yoshimitsu enshrined a deity from Usa Hachiman Grand Shrine to protect his family and estate. It was initially named Asahi Hachiman Shrine. After the decline of the Yamamoto Minamoto clan, worship continued under the Akechi and Azai clans. The shrine later received land donations from Toyotomi Hideyoshi. In 1876 CE (Meiji 9), it was designated as a village shrine and renamed Hachiman Shrine.
