History

The shrine's origins date back to when the Heian-period warrior Minamoto no Yoshinaka established his headquarters in this area. He carved a divine image and built a temporary shrine to pray for victory in battle. The shrine buildings were subsequently renovated in 1904, 1925, and 1938. After collapsing during the major local earthquake of 1948, the shrine was rebuilt in 1958. In 1962, it became a branch shrine receiving a divided spirit from Ishizuchi Hachimangu.
