History
It is believed to have been founded around the time the village of Shijo was established in the late Muromachi period. Following the separation of Shinto and Buddhism in the early Meiji period, it was separated from Myon-in Temple. It was later renamed from 'Sanno Shrine' to 'Hie Daijinja Shrine'. In 1908, it was relocated to the grounds of Tenmangu Shrine due to a shrine merger, and it moved to its current location in 1987.
