History
In 1672 CE (Kanbun 12), Ii Kamon-no-kami Naotoshi, the lord of the Himeji Domain, developed a village in the area. Lamenting the absence of a tutelary deity for the village, he earnestly petitioned the castle lord to transfer and enshrine the deity of the Yamato Daimyōjin. The deity, known as Ōyama-kuzushi, was the enshrined deity of the Hie Grand Shrine. The castle lord also held the deity in high esteem. During the Genroku era, a fire destroyed the shrine's documents and records, but the main hall (honden) miraculously survived the disaster.
