Hikami-No-Aneko Shrine (Satsuma Shrine outside Atsuta Jingu)
名古屋市緑区大高町火上山1−3
This is a satellite shrine located outside the precincts of Atsuta Jingu, enshrining the deity Miyasuhime-no-Mikoto.
History
It is said that the Kusanagi Sword was enshrined here before the founding of Atsuta Jingu. The shrine is recorded in the Engishiki Shinmyocho (Register of Shrine Names) as 'Kaminoue-No-Aneko Shrine'. Miyasuhime-no-Mikoto is believed to have been a woman of the Owaru clan or the ancestor of the Owaru Kokushi (Provincial Governor), and there are legends connecting her to Yamato Takeru. During the period of syncretism between Shinto and Buddhism, the local Buddha (Honji) was considered to be Seikanon (Avalokitesvara).
